DU Squash Club Challenge Match Rules

In DU Squash club, for the sake of both fairness and ensuring the rankings remains active, all new members are not ranked until they have played a challenge match.

There is an open challenge system* in operation in DU Squash Club as we have over a hundred new members joining every year.
The process of challenging is simple:

1) Pick your opponent. (The current rankings are on the noticeboard at the courts)
2) Challenge them (in person at training, phone, text or by email).
3) Play the challenge.
4) Report the result by writing it on the club noticeboard or contacting the Club Captain.

Challenges will be played Point-a-Rally to 11, best of 5 sets.

We will then take what challenges have been reported and update the rankings accordingly. If you lose in both challenges then you still get on the ladder at the end of the rankings. If you play a challenge match against another unranked member, you shall both be added to the end of the rankings.

Once you are on the ladder, the normal rules of squash ladder challenges apply.

Best of luck from all of us on the committee and we encourage you to get on the rankings so that we know you’re interested in playing regular competitive league squash!

* The open challenge system means you can challenge any two people on the rankings (in most clubs this is limited to positions above your current rank). Should you succeed in one of your challenges, you will slot in above that person on the rankings. The Club Captains reserve the right to veto any challenge that is deemed unreasonable in the eyes of the committee.
